The American Kite Fliers Association is a non-profit organization "dedicated to educating the public in the art, history, technology, and practice of building and flying kites." (1) Founded in 1964, the AKA has grown to a membership of over 4,000 men, women and children across 35 countries, and from all walks of life. The AKA is an enthusiast and hobbyist association promoting kite flying as a pastime, not a commercial trade association, though it does count many merchants like Breeze Chasers, kite flying clubs, kite festival organizers, and other people in the kite trade among it's enthusiastic members. Basic membership in the AKA is $30 each year, which entitles you to receive "Kiting," the premier magazine for kite enthusiasts, 4 times a year, as well as many other benefits. visit the AKA Website for more information.
